As with most Caribbean destinations, the general climate of Belize is sub-tropical. And, although the average humidity historically displays an annual mean humidity of 83%, the humidity can vary substantially between the wet and dry seasons of the country.
As would be expected, the humidity around the coast stays somewhat higher than further inland, but with the cool southeasterly ocean breezes gently caressing the shorelines, the humidity is generally very comfortable.
There are definitive wet and dry seasons in Belize, along with varied amounts of rain between the coastal and inland areas. The coastal regions can accumulate as little as 50 inches of rain annually, while the inland rain forest boasts over 160 inches per year. Generally, the dry season begins in mid January and continues through May - making Placencia, Belize a prime winter Caribbean tourist destination for residents from the cooler climates of the Northern Hemisphere. The rainy season is normally considered to be the months of June through November; with highest rainfalls in June, July, October and November.
Temperatures in Belize range from 50°F to 95°F, with an annual mean temperature of 79°F. November to January are traditionally the coolest months with a 75°F average and May to September are the warmest at about a 81°F average. However, the mean annual temperatures in the mountainous region of Belize is a perfectly desirable 72°F.
